Slay the Spire 2 Release Date

Early Access Launch — March 5, 2026

Developer Mega Crit Games released Slay the Spire 2 into Steam Early Access on March 5, 2026. The announcement came via an animated trailer on February 19 that also revealed the game's flagship feature: up to 4-player online co-op.

The Early Access build shipped with five playable characters — Ironclad, Silent, Defect, Necrobinder, and Regent — along with hundreds of cards, relics, potions, enemies, and events. Players can experience the full single-player campaign and the new co-op mode from day one.

Full 1.0 Release Timeline

Mega Crit has stated that Slay the Spire 2 will remain in Early Access for an estimated 1–2 years, putting the projected full release somewhere between Q1 2027 and Q1 2028. During this period the team plans to add new cards, events, environments, enemies, and balance adjustments based on community feedback.

For reference, the original Slay the Spire spent roughly 14 months in Early Access (November 2017 → January 2019) before its 1.0 launch. A similar timeline for the sequel would point to a mid-2027 full release.

Regional pricing is supported on Steam. Buying during Early Access locks in the lower price — you won't need to pay more when 1.0 arrives.

PS5 & Xbox

No official PlayStation 5 or Xbox versions have been announced yet. Given the original game eventually came to PS4 and Xbox One, console ports are widely expected after the 1.0 release, though nothing is confirmed.

Nintendo Switch

Developer Casey Yano has expressed hope for a Switch port: "We'll definitely be optimizing the game enough to run on the Nintendo Switch. Porting work is happening during Early Access so nothing is set in stone yet." No release date has been given for a Switch version.

Mobile (iOS & Android)

The original Slay the Spire was a hit on mobile. Mobile versions of the sequel are expected eventually, but Mega Crit has not shared a timeline. We'll update this section as more information becomes available.

Co-op Multiplayer at Launch

One of the biggest additions in Slay the Spire 2 is online co-op for up to 4 players. The co-op mode shipped with Early Access and includes multiplayer-specific cards and team synergies. This is a fully integrated experience — not a separate game mode — so you can climb the Spire together from the start.
